Expert panel: Boundaries of Social Citizenship in EUrope
Speakers: Prof. Dr. Dagmar Schiek (University College Cork); Dr. Alexandre de le Court (Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona); Dr. Norbert Cyrus (Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION), Dr. Amelie Kutter (Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION, facilitation).
Recent crises have revealed that access to social rights, such as social security, short time work, housing, or health care is essential for the resilience of economies to external shocks, but also for sustaining social cohesion, trust and belonging in European societies. Access to social rights marks the boundaries of livelihood and citizenship in Europe. This panel discusses the state of the art of social citizenship in Europe during the pandemic, looking into potentials and limits of existing guarantees and political struggles over them at national and European level.
This event has been organised by and is part of Amelie Kutter’s MA seminar „Teilhabe und Peripheriebildung in europäischen Gesellschaften“.
